GBP/USD Market Moves 25th January 2010

Sterling has picked up a slight edge on the US Dollar as trading resumed after the weekend break.

There have not really be any fundamental reports out of the UK today and most investors will most likely be waiting until the release of the US Existing Home Sales data at 10.00 am EST today before committing to strongly one direction or the other. Overall global equity, commodity and currency markets appear to be somewhat hesitant after last week's events sent prices moving rapidly in one direction or the other. As this week shapes up traders will be paying particular attention on Wednesday to any comments made from the US Federal Reserve as well as any hints regarding financial regulation during President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
